Car rental at Antalya Airport: which terminal?
Car hire at Antalya Airport (AYT) centres on three buildings: International Terminal 1, International Terminal 2 and a separate domestic terminal. The national tourism site says Terminal 2 mainly runs in the peak summer season. The airport's own page says many car rental companies have offices on site, and its interactive terminal map shows where.
Take the meeting point from your offer and find it on that map before you land. Free ring shuttles run both ways between the two international terminals, which are about 2.5 km apart, and stop in front of the departures area. The airport's page says the 1st International Terminal and the domestic terminal, which have separate entrances, are interconnected, with direct access from one to the other.
Is it worth hiring a car at Antalya Airport?
For the city centre alone, probably not: the airport's own page lists city buses to the Intercity Bus Terminal or the city centre (departure times in the Antalyakart app) and the AntRay tram between the airport, Meydan and Fatih. The national tourism site adds that Terminal 2 is not on the AntRay line.
Along the coast, the airport's page describes the Intercity Bus Terminal, about 4 km north of the city centre, as the transport hub for the Mediterranean coastline, so a bus trip to a resort starts with a change in the city. Tour operators have counters just outside the terminals and take their guests to the accommodation, with airline buses running to arrival times. If a transfer is already included, start the rental on the day you begin driving.
Driving from Antalya Airport on the D400
The airport lies northeast of the city centre, about 15 km away according to the national tourism site, and the D400 links the two; follow "Alanya Yolu". Arriving by road you pass International Terminal 1, the domestic terminal and the CIP building before International Terminal 2.
Wikipedia gives these distances from Antalya city, not from the terminal:
- Kemer: about 43 km west.
- Side, near Manavgat: about 78 km.
- Alanya: about 133 km east.

Which car for the coast roads and luggage?
A vehicle class is a starting point, not proof that your bags and a child seat fit together, so read the boot and the passenger seats in the car description. Check the description for air conditioning too, because UK government advice says extreme temperatures can affect many areas in summer.
