One-way car rental in Georgia from $29/day

In the search, choose a pick-up city and a different drop-off city. The offers you see are for that route. The one-way fee pays for moving the car back later. Some suppliers include it in the daily price, and others show it as a separate line in the offer. In both cases you see it before you book, so compare the full price of each offer.

Not every car is offered on every route. It depends on where the supplier is based. Pick-up and return work as in any rental: at an office, at the airport, or with delivery to your hotel. Agree the return time and place with the supplier when you book.

• Tbilisi–Batumi: about 370 km, about 5.5–6 hours with short stops. This is the longest and busiest route, from the capital to the Black Sea coast. Read more on the Tbilisi to Batumi page.
• Tbilisi–Kutaisi: about 230 km, about 3.5 hours. It suits a trip that starts or ends with a low-cost flight at Kutaisi Airport.
• Kutaisi–Batumi: about 150 km, about 2.5 hours. It is a short drive from Kutaisi to the coast at Batumi.

All three routes use the main east–west highway. In winter, snow is possible on the Rikoti Pass section, so allow extra time. In July and August, traffic near the coast is heavy, especially at weekends.

Price does not follow distance closely. Compare the offers for your route and direction. Compare the routes in the table for your dates.

Pick-up and return can often take place at the airport, so you do not need a taxi at either end. Confirm this when you book. Not every supplier offers airport return on every route, and very early or late flights can fall outside normal hand-over hours. Leave enough time before your flight for the drive, traffic and the check of the car at return.

• Days 1–3, Tbilisi. Pick up the car in Tbilisi. See the old town, drive to Mtskheta, and spend a day or two in the Kakheti wine region.
• Days 4–5, Kutaisi. Drive west and stop at Gori and Uplistsikhe on the way. Around Kutaisi, visit Bagrati Cathedral, Gelati Monastery and Prometheus Cave.
• Days 6–8, Batumi. Continue to the coast, with a detour to Martvili Canyon if you have a free day. In Batumi, see the seafront and the botanical garden.
• Days 9–10, return and fly out. Return the car in Batumi and fly from there. If the flights suit you better, return it a day earlier in Kutaisi and fly from Kutaisi Airport.

The same plan works in reverse, from the coast to Tbilisi. For one week, drop one of the stops. The drive back to your starting point would take a full day. With a one-way rental you can use that day for Kazbegi, Svaneti or another trip.

If you plan to drive into Armenia, check the permission on the car before you book. Ask the supplier which border crossing to use, which documents you get and whether the insurance is valid there.
